Kilts are perfect to wear for the big day, but buying everything for one day can be quite expensive. This is why we offer kilt rentals, the perfect answer for what grooms should wear to their Celtic wedding! Check out our kilt rental page for all the information you need.

While the men are wearing kilts, there are many options for the bride to incorporate the tartan into her dress. It can be in a scarf tied over the shoulder, or around her waist or even added to her bouquet.

We have wonderful gifts to thank those special people who helped you get to your wedding day!We have many more items in our store, too!

Some traditional gifts include Belleek China in vases, trinket boxes or photo frames; Galway crystal in picture frames, ring minders or photo frames; Irish linen hankies; Celtic knot work jewelry; or Claddagh pieces as well!

Guys can always prove to be a little bit more difficult to shop for when it comes to groomsmen gifts. We have listed a couple traditional ideas here.

Traditional groomsmen gifts include flasks (filled flasks if you are feeling generous!); men's jewlery such as tie tacks, cuff links, watches, and money clips are always a great idea!  In addition,  barware such as tankards with Celtic knot work or Claddagh symbols are always appreciated.

There are many small traditions you can incorporate into your ceremony in order to honor your Celtic heritage. Listed below are some of the most popular ones.  If you have any questions or want further information on these traditions or other ones please just let us know!

The Tradition:
To be sown into wedding gown or to be tucked into the bridal bouquet. The horseshoe has always been associated with good luck because of the level of importance the Celts placed on their livestock, particularly their horses.

As tradition goes the bride is to slip a five pence into her shoe for luck and good fortune as she walks down the aisle.

What You Will Need:

The Tradition:
This two handled cup was traditionally used during wedding feasts to symbolize sharing between the newly wedded couple.
The Scottish Quaich originated from the Gaelic word "cuach" meaning "shallow cup." Pronounced "quake" the Quiach is an ancient vessel used to celebrate a bond between two clans or families, each partaking of the offered drink.
Presented using both hands, the recipient must receive it with both hands. In earlier days this method of giving and receiving insured the safety of each warrior as neither could hide a weapon with a hidden hand.
Continuing the tradition, the quaich is still serving its purpose today, uniting the two families and friends in the Celtic wedding ceremony or at the reception.

What You Will Need:
A pewter Quaich
from $76 to $115

The Tradition:
The Unity Candle ceremony is the lighting of candles to symbolize the joining of two families or clans. The outside taper candles represent the families of the bride and groom and the larger piller candle represents the new family formed by marriage.

Traditionally, a member of each family lights the outside candles before the ceremony.  The lighting of the single center candle in unison by the bride and groom represents that they are joining as one. The extinguishing of the individual tapers symbolize their intent to subliminate their individual needs to the greater good of the union.

Most couples keep their Unity Candle to light on special occasions, such as their wedding anniversary.

What You Will Need:
Unity Candle: $27-$38
Tapers in various designs: $17

Three Piece Set: $105

The Tradition:
In this type of Celtic wedding ceremony, the couple stands together with wedding guests forming a circle around them. No clergy was needed and the couple simply pledged themselves and had their hands gently bound together with a cord or strip of cloth or tartan. The expression "tying the knot" may have come from their hand-fasting ceremony. Hand-fasting was originally a trial marriage contract that lasted for a year and a day.  If it didn't work out the couple went their separate ways. In current times the hand-fasting can be incorporated into a Christian or civil ceremony as part of a connection to our Celtic culture.

What You Will Need:
Ribbon or Yardage of your family tartan.
